Blind rivets are composed of a tubular body and a smooth cylindrical shaft with a head on one end, through its center. They are inserted into a punched or pre-drilled hole, and fully set by pulling the mandrel to expand the rivet body and cause "blind" to the opposite side. Then the mandrel snaps at its break point, leaving the rivet body and mandrel's head encapsulated at the blind side.

A wide range of blind rivets is available including closed-end rivets and open-end rivet as shown in the following pictures.

Closed-end blind rivets
With unique cup-shaped end configuration, end-closed rivets allow for up to 23% higher tensile strength than those with open ends in same size. Meanwhile, it eliminates vibration failure by providing 100% mandrel retention and prevents leakage and seepage of vapor & liquid.

Open-end blind rivets - easy entry type
As the most common rivet, this one has a hollow tubular body and a headed mandrel. When set, this head will enter and expand the hollow tube to ensure a strong and tight fit, even in oversize hollow tube. They are widely used to fasten materials that do not have high load-bearing capacity.

Open-end blind rivets - grip tightening type
The domed head ensures excellent mandrel retention and rattle resistance. In addition, the wide expansion at blind side spreads load evenly to protect brittle material being joined from any deformation as well as create a superb waterproof tight seal.

Open-end blind rivets - load spreading type
This load spreading blind rivet features a slotted hollow tube that may "fold" to create a secondary head. And it is this large head spreads the load over a wide area, protecting the vulnerable, soft, friable or brittle base materials from being damaged during installation.
